This steam dial is a variable aperture nozzle that allows the barista to adjust the steam pressure from subtle to powerful, and the steam spout is scaled to make it easy to change settings. The surface of the steam dial is coated with a food-safe proprietary coating, which is cleaned in time every time, just like the normal wiping after the milk frothing, to prevent the whipped milk from adhering to it and accumulating. The adjustable crescent holes of this steam dial eject the steam in a fan-tail-like dispersion pattern. This fan shape creates a swirl in the pitcher, allowing the milk to absorb air and compress the large air bubbles, resulting in a smooth and silky milk froth.

Why does the steam nozzle need to be adjusted? The significance is more important for one reason, that is, to reduce waste. If you pour too little milk into the pitcher, and the steam is relatively large, it will usually cause large bubbles and most of the milk is frothed properly; on the other hand, if you need a lot of milk while the steam from the steam nozzle is too weak, you will continue to send it until you feel your milk is getting hot, and the frothing can be impacted.

Using the steam dial, you can adjust the amount of steam for different espresso shots, and if you want to make a large latte, turn the dial to open it all the way. If you want to make a macchiato, use a small amount of milk. This design is to use the right amount of steam to match the right amount of milk, and avoid waste.

The steam is adjusted by rotating the lower part of the steam dial. The indicator on the body of the steam dial shows the current steam volume. The higher the number, the more steam. The number 4 means the dial is fully open.

In terms of maintenance, wipe the steam nozzle with a damp soft cloth after each use. At the end of the day, quickly rotate the lower part to remove the dry milk. For a more thorough cleaning, the cover can be removed by pulling it away from the body of the steam dial. It is recommended to wipe the O-ring inside the tip with a drop of food-safe oil after cleaning to keep the parts lubricated.
